The Open Championship: Tommy Fleetwood favored after two rounds 7/20/18

The 2018 Open Championship is at its halfway point and some big names are looking to be contenders for the major. Here’s the updated odds after two rounds of play.

According to the latest oddsmakers, Tommy Fleetwood is favored to win the major now, as he has 6/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Rory McIlroy (7/1), Zach Johnson (7/1) and Jordan Spieth (8/1). The Open Championship continues Saturday and Sunday at Carnoustie Golf Links in Carnoustie, Scotland.

Fleetwood finds himself 1 shot back of the leaders after lighting up the course on Friday with a 6-under 65. Fleetwood is now 5-under for the tournament. Zach Johnson and Kevin Kisner are at -6 overall. Johnson shot a 67 on Friday while Kisner had a 70. Kisner is listed with 12/1 odds to win. Fleetwood has emerged as the favorite due to his 65 and because he finished second at the U.S. Open and 17th at The Masters.

McIlroy is tied for sixth at -4 overall after shooting a 2-under 69 for the second straight day. He is joined along the likes of Matt Kuchar and Tony Finau at -4. McIlroy is a former Open Championship winner and a four-time major champion.

Spieth struggled on Thursday, shooting a 1-over, 72. However, he bounced back on Friday by putting up a 4-under, 67. Spieth is now -3 for the tournament and tied for 11th. He is the defending champion of The Open and is a three-time major winner.
