HOYLAKE, England (TheSpread) – The first round of the 2014 British Open is in the books and a lot of top names are near the lead.

According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Rory McIlroy is now the sole favorite to win, as he has 9/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Adam Scott (5/1), Tiger Woods (10/1) and Sergio Garcia (12/1).

McIlroy has a 1-shot lead on the field as he posted a 66 on Thursday to get to 6-under for the tournament. McIlroy is looking to win his first British Open.

Adam Scott posted a 4-under 68 on Thursday to put him in a tie for third place, two shots off the lead. Scott is looking to claim his first British Open.

Woods had a somewhat surprising 3-under 69 on Thursday to get into a tie for ninth. Woods is playing in his first major of the year due to back issues. He is a three-time British Open winner.

Garcia shot a 68 on Thursday to join the others at 4 under. Garcia is looking to win his first major championship of any kind.
