Cotto vs. Margarito II Odds
NEW YORK (TheSpread) – Two of the most exciting boxers face off Saturday for the WBA Super World Light Middleweight Championship when Miguel Cotto takes on Antonio Margarito for the second time.
Cotto (36-2, 29 KO’s) enters the fight as the champion against Margarito (38-7-1, 27 KO’s). The fight will take place from the Madison Square Garden in New York and air live on HBO Pay-Per-View at 9PM ET. The fight will be contested at 153 pounds.
According to oddsmakers, Cotto is the slight favorite to win this bout with odds of -250, while Margarito comes in with a money line of +190 to win the championship contest. The over/under for rounds has been set at 10.5.
These two met for the first time back in 2008 with Margarito winning by stoppage in the 11th round thanks to a strong flurry in the later rounds of the fight. However, in Margarito’s next fight, he was caught trying to enter the right against Shane Mosley with loaded hand wraps, which left his win over Cotto in question. Many feel he may have been cheating in that fight as well.
Since the loss to Margarito, Cotto has went on to win four of his next five fights, with the lone loss coming against Manny Pacquiao in a 12th round TKO in November of 2009. Three of his four wins in the stretch came by TKO. Since the win over Cotto, Margarito has went 1-2, losing to Mosley by ninth-round TKO in 2009 and losing by unanimous decision to Pacquiao back in November of 2010. Margarito hasn’t had a TKO victory since beating Cotto.
