Pacquiao vs. Marquez III Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Manny Pacquiao returns to the boxing ring on Saturday, Nov. 12 when he faces off with Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time for the WBO Welterweight Championship.
Pacquiao (53-3-2) enters the fight as the champion against Marquez (53-5-1). The fight will take place from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and air live on HBO Pay-Per-View at 9PM ET. The fight will actually be contested at a 144-pound catch weight.
According to oddsmakers, Pacquiao is the overwhelming favorite to win this bout, as he has a money line of -1100 to retain his title. Marquez is the heavy underdog with odds of +650. The over/under for rounds in the bout has been set at a lofty 10.5.
These two last met on March 15, 2008 with Pacquiao winning a split decision over Marquez after 12 rounds of a competitive fight. The first encounter took place on May 8, 2004 and resulted in a draw when the two were fighting for featherweight championships. Marquez has been the one fighter that has really given Pacquiao a lot of trouble during his recent run in the boxing world.
Pacquiao has won his last three fights by decision. His last TKO came back in November of 2009 over Miguel Angel Cotto. Seemingly the fight everyone wants to see is Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. and I don’t suspect that Pacquiao would take a fight that would risk that potential massive pay day.
Marquez has won his last three fights since losing to Mayweather Jr. on Sept. 19 of 2009. It was a unanimous decision loss at welterweight. Since that time, Marquez has picked up a pair of knockouts, including a first round KO of Likar Ramos last July. In the split decision loss to Pacquiao, Marquez was knocked down in the third round and many felt that was the difference in the fight as Marquez landed a higher percentage of his punches.
WBO Welterweight Championship Bout Odds – Saturday, November 12
Manny Pacquiao -1100
Juan Manuel Marquez +650
Over/Under Rounds: 10.5
