UFC 177 will take place from Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California with the main card bouts airing live on PPV at 10PM ET.
The main event of Saturday’s card is a bout for the Bantamweight Championship where T.J. Dillashaw (10-2) defends his newly won title against the former champion Renan Barao (32-2). According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Dillashaw is favored to retain his title, as he has odds of -155 to win, while Barao has a money line of +125 to prevail. These two met back on May 24 with Dillashaw shocking the world, KO’ing Barao in the fifth round after soundly dominating the then-champ. Barao hadn’t lost a fight since 2005 prior to that night. Dillashaw was able to use tremendous footwork to out-strike Barao and the former champ didn’t have an answer. Barao will likely come in with a new game plan while Dillashaw will look to do more of the same.
The co-main event of Saturday’s event is a lightweight clash between rising contenders Tony Ferguson (15-3) and Danny Castillo (17-6). Ferguson is favored to win the bout by oddsmakers, as he has odds of -260 to prevail, while Castillo has a money line of +200 to win. Ferguson is 5-1 in the UFC and coming off a pair of first-round victories. He has a long reach and powerful punch combined with a strong submission game on the ground. Castillo is 7-3 in the UFC and he has won three of his last four. Castillo is a ground specialist, who uses wrestling to win matches. He has some punching power, but likely would struggle in a boxing match with Ferguson.
