The main event of Saturday’s card was for the UFC Interim Bantamweight Championship as Urijah Faber faced odd with Renan Barao. Barao was a replacement for the current champion, Dominick Cruz, but he never showed it. Barao controlled the entire 25 minutes of action, using his reach to work kicks and punches. Faber was never able to get into a flow or get the fight to the ground. Barao simply out-pointed Faber convincingly and won the bout via unanimous decision. According to oddsmakers, Barao had odds of -200 to win this fight, which means a wager of $200 will pay out an additional $100.
In the co-main event of UFC 149, middleweights Tim Boetsch and Hector Lombard had an uneventful fight that saw Boetsch earn the split decision. Lombard was making his UFC debut after having a long winning streak in other organizations, but he fought a timid fight against Boetsch. Boetsch wasn’t terribly impressive either, but did enough to win two of the three rounds on two of the three judges’ scorecards. According to oddsmakers, Boetsch had odds of +275 to win this fight, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $275.
