The UFC Interim Featherweight Championship bout features former champion Jose Aldo (25-2) taking on Frankie Edgar (20-4-1). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Edgar is the slight favorite to win this bout, as he has -130 odds to win, while Aldo is coming in with an even money line of +100. These two meet up tonight at UFC 200 as part of the main card, which begins at 10PM ET on PPV. The event will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
These two actually met back in February of 2013, with Aldo winning a five-round unanimous decision. However, the fight was very competitive. Since the loss, Edgar has really been impressive, winning five straight with three TKO of submission finishes. Also had won three fights after their last meeting, but is coming off a 13-second KO loss to Conor McGregor in December, which ended his reign as UFC champion.
There are a lot of questions about Aldo coming into this fight. His mystique seems a bit shattered by the embarrassing loss to McGregor. It’s not uncommon to see a once great champion take a nose dive after losing the title. Edgar looks as good as he ever has. His striking has gotten stronger, his speed is still there, and he has a great grappling game. I look for him to mix up more of an attack in this rematch, while Aldo will stick to his striking game plan. However, he will have some questions about his chin, leaving him cautious, which opens the door for Edgar to take control and get the win.
