According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog Condit is a slight favorite to win this contest with odds of -120, while Kim comes in with odds of -110. UFC 132 takes place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and airs live on PPV, starting at 9PM ET.
WHY PICK CONDIT
Carlos Condit (26-5) is a very experienced, yet somewhat young, welterweight. He has good grappling skills and his striking is getting better with each fight. He has only let one of his 26 victories go to decision, as he typically finds a way to finish fights through his grappling. Condit has arguably faced tougher opponents than Kim, so he should have an edge in terms of composure during the fight.
WHY PICK KIM
Kim (14-0-1) has very quietly amassed an unbeaten record through 15 fights and he has done so due to his judo-grappling and sheer strength and size. He is bigger than most opponents he fights and his strength gives his opponents problems in the grappling area. I think Kim should be able to win the grappling exchanges with Condit, which will force Condit to have to win in striking. That is something nobody else has been able to do with Kim, so it is hard to see Condit finding a way.
WHO TO PICK?
I like Kim in a minor upset because I see him using his size to push Condit up against the fence until he can score a judo throw or a takedown. When on the ground, Condit will have a hard time getting off his back with the strong Kim on top. If Kim can avoid submissions and a big punch, I think he will get the decision victory.
UFC 132 FREE PICK: DONG HYUN KIM -110
