Cerrone vs. Rocha Free Pick
VANCOUVER, BC (TheSpread) – Donald Cerrone will face off with Vagner Rocha in a lightweight battle as part of Saturday’s UFC 131 PPV event.
Cerrone was originally scheduled to face Mac Danzig, but an injury to Danzig forced Rocha into the mix. Cerrone is the clear favorite to win the bout according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog as he has odds of -500 while Rocha has a money line of +300 to win. UFC 131 takes place from the Rogers Arena and will air live on Pay-Per-View at 9PM ET.
WHY PICK CERRONE
Cerrone (14-3) is a solid all-around fighter. He has good striking without knockout power, and tremendous submission ability. All but two of his wins have come by submission in his career. Cerrone is long and lengthy in the 155-pound division, which makes him hard to hit. Rocha is making his UFC debut in this contest a lot and is taking the fight on short notice.
WHY PICK ROCHA
Rocha (6-1) is an impressive submission fighter and has some experience in Bellator and Strikeforce, but he lacks a lot of fights, especially against a fighter with the talent of Cerrone. Rocha could find a way to win this fight if he can get Cerrone on his back and control the fight.
WHO TO PICK?
I don’t see Rocha putting up much fight, but still finding a way to keep from getting submitted. I like Cerrone to win this fight by a decision after dominating the contest for all 15 minutes.
