Mark Hunt vs. Brock Lesnar Odds
In a surprise announcement, Brock Lesnar is returning to the octagon next month when he competes at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt. Is Lesnar favored to win his return?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Hunt is favored in this heavyweight matchup, as he is listed with odds of -190 to win. Lesnar is listed with a money line of +155 to win. These two meet in the co-main event of UFC 200, which takes place on Saturday, July 9 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event airs live on PPV.
Lesnar (5-3) hasn’t competed in the UFC since December of 2011. He lost his last two fights by first-round TKO but claims that his performance suffered due to reoccurring bouts with diverticulitis. A former UFC champion, Lesnar looked unstoppable for a few years as he dominated with his wrestling and improved his striking with his monstrous hands. In this fight, he can win with his wrestling, as Hunt is a standup fighter and tends to fatigue quickly when forced to move.
Hunt (12-10-1) is coming off back-to-back first-round knockouts of Antonio Silva and Frank Mir. He is a very powerful striker that contended for the interim championship in November of 2014. Hunt has been pretty difficult to defeat, as he can take a punch and has respectable takedown defense. However, he hasn’t dealt with as athletic a wrestler as he will face in Lesnar. Hunt can win this fight if he can land some punches on Lesnar, who has struggled to overcome taking punches in the past.
