UFC 173 will take place from the MGM Grand Garden Arnea in Las Vegas, Nevada with the main card bouts airing live on PPV at 10PM ET.
The main event of Saturday’s card is a bout for the Bantamweight Championship where Renan Barao (32-1) defends his title against T.J. Dillashaw (9-2), According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Barao is the overwhelming favorite to win, as he has odds of -800 to retain his title, while Dillashaw has a money line of +500 to win. Barao is on a 32-fight win streak, dating back to 2005. He has great striking power to go with a strong submission game on the ground. Dillashaw is somewhat of a surprise challenger. He is just 1-1 in his last two fights. Dillashaw is a strong wrestler that has improving stand up, but he is taking a big leap up in competition in this fight. He may hope to have Barao overlook him in order to pull off a big upset.
The co-main event of Saturday’s event is also a light heavyweight clash, which features Dan Henderson (30-11) taking on Daniel Cormier (14-0). Oddsmakers have Cormier as the clear favorite, as he has a money line of -800 to win, while Henderson has odds of +500 to win. Cormier is unbeaten and competing in his second light heavyweight bout. He is an Olympic wrestler that has some improving striking. He tends to overwhelm his opponents and push a tireless pace. Henderson snapped a three-fight losing streak by KO’ing Mauricio Rua in the third round back in March. Henderson has big power in his hands, but he tends to struggle with his conditioning. If Cormier is able to dictate the pacing of the fight, he is likely to get the win.
