Manny Pacquiao Breakdown
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – Manny Pacquiao may not be unbeaten, but he can do something nobody else has done on Saturday, and that is beat Floyd Mayweather Jr.. Will Pacquiao do it?
According to oddsmakers at online sports book Bovada.lv, the latest odds for this bout have Pacquiao as a +175 underdog against the unbeaten Mayweather Jr. on Saturday night. Mayweather has been given odds of -225 to win. Mayweather vs. Pacquiao is set for Saturday, May 2 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This fight will have the Unified WBA (Super), WBC, WBO and The Ring welterweight championships up for grabs.
Pacquiao is 57-5-2 in his career with 38 knockouts and 19 decisions. He comes into this fight having won his last three by unanimous decision, but he lost two fights in 2012, suffered a KO loss to Juan Manuel Marquez and a controversial split decision to Timothy Bradley. Pacquiao has since beat Bradley convincingly and he had beaten Marquez two previous times.
Pacquiao comes into this fight with plenty of motivation, as he has wanted this fight for years and only been told by Mayweather that he wasn’t deserving of the same pay as his opponent. Pacquiao is an aggressive fighter that likes to force the issue. He packs a lot of pop in his punches, which shows in his KO history. The question for him will be about speed and if he can neutralize Mayweather’s counter-punching speed, which has allowed Mayweather to stay unbeaten. Because Pacquiao throws so many punches per round and Mayweather throws few due to his fighting style, Pacquiao could steal a number of rounds and possibly earn a decision.
