Jon Jones runs over Chael Sonnen
Jones (18-1) was taking on Sonnen (27-13-1), who was making his first fight at light heavyweight in quite some time. Jones immediately looked to grapple with the grappler, and it worked in his favor. His size was too much for Sonnen to deal with, as Jones was able to record multiple takedowns and land big elbows from the ground. As the first round neared the end, Jones landed a barrage of elbows and punches to earn the stoppage from the ref. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Jones was the heavy favorite to win, as he had odds of -950 to win, which means a wager of $950 on Jones to win will pay out an additional $100.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card saw Michael Bisping (24-5) pick up a decision win over Alan Belcher (18-8). The fight was actually stopped just short of completion after an accidental eye poke to Belcher cut him and forced the fight to be stopped. Prior to the stoppage, Bisping was controlling the fight on the feet with his fast hands and conditioning. Belcher looked fatigued throughout the fight and was never able to find his stride. According to oddsmakers, Bisping had a money line of -170 to win this fight, which means a wager of $170 on Bisping will pay out an additional $100.
