Rockhold vs. Machida Odds
NEWARK, NJ (The Spread) – Two of the best middleweights in the world meet up this Saturday in the main event of UFC on FOX. Here is a look at the odds for this bout.
Saturday’s bout features Luke Rockhold (13-2) taking on Lyoto Machida (22-5) in a 185-pound fight. Rockhold is the former Strikeforce middleweight champion who has won three straight bouts since a KO loss to Vitor Belfort back in May of 2013. Machida is a former UFC light heavyweight champion that is coming off a first-round KO win over C.B. Dollaway in December. Prior to that he lost a decision to middleweight champion Chris Weidman last July.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Rockhold is the slight favorite in this fight, as he has odds of -155 to win the bout, while Machida has been given a money line of +125 to prevail. This fight will be the main event of UFC on FOX this Saturday at 8PM ET. The event takes place from the Prudential Center and will air live on FOX.
Both fighters are elite-level strikers that have very good length with their punches and kicks. Rockhold has a size advantage, as he is 6-3, while Machida is 6-1. Rockhold is more of a muay thai striker, while Machida is a karate-style fighter. The key in this fight may be which fighter has the better grappling skills. Machida has some quick trips and takedowns, but isn’t known for his grappling. Rockhold trains with a lot of elite wrestlers and has shown the ability to control opponents on the ground.
