UFC on FUEL TV 9 will take place from Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden with the main card bouts airing live on Fuel TV at 2PM ET on Saturday.
The main event of Saturday’s international event is a light heavyweight clash between Gegard Mousasi (33-3-2) and Ilir Latifi (7-2) According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Mousasi is the clear favorite in this bout, as he has odds of -1350 to win, while Latifi comes in with a money line of +800 for the fight. Mousasi was originally scheduled to face Sweden’s own Alexander Gustafsson in a battle of contenders, but Gustafsson suffered a cut in training and was denied from competing. Latifi is making his UFC debut and is a training partner of Gustafsson, but is pretty much an unknown. Mousasi is also making his UFC debut, but he is coming over from Strikeforce, where he was once the light heavyweight champion. The striker is 5-0-1 in his last six fights.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a lightweight battle between Ross Pearson (14-6) and Ryan Couture (6-1). According to oddsmakers, Pearson is the favorite to win this bout, as he has odds of -420 to win, while Couture has been given a money line of +320. Pearson is a former Ultimate Fighter winner and a UFC veteran, having bounced around from lightweight to featherweight and back. He is a solid striker with decent submission and wrestling skills. Couture is making his UFC debut after starting his career 6-1 in Strikeforce. Couture is the son of hall of famer Randy Couture, and he has a similar grind-it-out style. He has the grappling and wrestling ability to control his opponents.
