Sotiropoulos vs. Siver Free Pick
SYDNEY, Australia (TheSpread) – One of the featured bouts of UFC 127 on Saturday is a lightweight clash between top contender George Sotiropoulos and Dennis Siver.
Sotiropoulos enters the fight as the clear favorite according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com with betting odds of -500 while Siver comes in with odds of +300. UFC 127 takes place from Acer Arena and will air live on Pay-Per-View at 10PM ET.
WHY PICK SOTIROPOULOS
Sotiropoulos (14-2) has never lost in the UFC. He has had four of his seven wins in the octagon come by submission as he is one of the top submission fighters in the world. His ability to get the fight to the ground and control his opponents with his jiu-jitsu makes him very difficult for anyone to defeat. He is also a fighter that has never been knocked out or submitted in his pro career. For this fight, his opponent, Dennis Siver, isn’t bad on the ground, but will be overmatched by Sotiropoulos’ submission skills.
WHY PICK SIVER
Siver (17-7) is a compact and strong fighter with good striking skills. His spinning back kick has become somewhat legendary for taking out opponents as he lands the kick squarely in the rib cage. Siver’s opponent is also known for being somewhat of a slow starter, which could open the door for Siver to overwhelm him in the opening rounds. Siver will certainly have the ability to knock out Sotiropoulos, but the same can’t be said in reverse.
WHO TO PICK?
The odds are greater in this fight than I think they should be as Siver is very capable of winning this fight if Sotiropoulos is not on top of his game. However, there is a reason that Sotiropoulos is 7-0 in the UFC and has been dominant as of late, and that is because he is the top ground fighter in the division. Look for him to get the fight to the ground at some point in the later rounds and secure an arm submission against the game Siver.
