UFC on FUEL TV 7 will take place from the Wembley Arena in London, England with the main card bouts airing live on Fuel TV at 3PM ET.
The main event of Saturday’s international event has UFC Interim Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao (29-1) defending his title against Michael McDonald (15-1). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Barao is the favorite to retain his title, as he has a money line of -300 to win, while McDonald has odds of +240. Barao hasn’t loss since his pro debut back in 2005. He has been very dominant in the UFC, going 4-0 with wins over many of the top fighters in the division. McDonald is riding an eight-fight win streak and is also 4-0 in the UFC, including a pair of first-round knockouts in his last two outings. Both men have big power in their striking, but Barao is a very strong wrester and jiu-jitsu practitioner. The likely way for McDonald to pull off the upset is for him to get the knockout. He will have 25 minutes to try.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a featherweight clash between top contenders Cub Swanson (18-5) and Dustin Poirier (13-2). According to oddsmakers, Swanson is the slight favorite in this fight, as he has odds of -135 to win. Poirier comes in with a money line of +105 to prevail. Swanson is riding a three-fight win streak, all of which have been by knockout. He has great striking ability and solid endurance. Poirier is on a 1-fight win streak, but he had been on a roll prior to a fourth-round submission loss to Chan Sung Jung last May. Poirier is a solid all-around fighter, but likely has a better shot to win if he takes this fight to the ground. He should have the edge when it comes to grappling and submissions.
