With just two weeks remaining in the 2010 NFL regular season, here’s how we see things in the top 15.
NFL Power Rankings Week 16:
1. New England Patriots (12-2)
The Patriots got caught reading their own pressing clippings last week and nearly were beaten by the Matt Flynn-led Packers. They eventually won 31-27, but they never came close to covering as a 14-point favorite. According to current NFL odds and oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, they’re 9-point favorites over the Bills this Sunday. Bill Belichick’s team better show more focus this weekend on the road.
2. Atlanta Falcons (12-2)
The Falcons have now won eight straight. Their last three victories came on the road, including as a 7-point favorite against the Seahawks in Week 15. Despite their record, they continue to fly under the radar and have a golden opportunity to prove how for real they are next Monday night against the Saints.
3. Baltimore Ravens (10-4)
The Ravens’ offense came alive last weekend against the Saints, although their defense hasn’t been right in a few weeks now. They suffered that fourth quarter collapse against the Texans two Monday nights ago and then allowed the Saints to rack up 24 points on them last week. Of course, it’s not like Matt Schaub and Drew Brees can’t move the ball against any defense they face.
4. Philadelphia Eagles (10-4)
The Eagles would have been further down this list if it weren’t for their amazing comeback last Sunday at the New Meadowlands. But it showed how dangerous this team can be no matter what the score is.
5. New Orleans Saints (10-4)
The Saints have given up a combined 87 points in their last three road games. That’s not a good sign seeing as how they have a date with Matt Ryan and the Falcons next Monday night.
6. Chicago Bears (10-4)
Thanks to Devin Hester and Jay Cutler, the Bears avoided a letdown against the Vikings on Monday night. With their NFC North already clinched, they’ll look to earn a first round bye over these next two weeks.
7. New York Jets (10-4)
The Jets’ win over the Steelers last Sunday was impressive but this is still a team that lost to the hapless Dolphins two weeks ago. It’s tough to know what to make of Rex Ryan’s squad right now.
8. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-4)
It goes without saying that this is a completely different team when Troy Polamalu doesn’t suit up. The Steelers better hope that he’s completely healthy in time for the playoffs or else they’ll continue to struggle.
9. San Diego Chargers (8-6)
They’re still one game behind the Chiefs in the AFC West but something tells us they’re still going to find a way to get into the playoffs. Philip Rivers continues to play MVP-caliber football.
10. Indianapolis Colts (8-6)
It’s a scary thing to think that Peyton Manning is now in control of his team’s playoff destiny. Does anyone really think the Colts won’t win these final two games in order to win the AFC South?
11. Green Bay Packers (8-6)
12. New York Giants (9-5)
13. Kansas City Chiefs (9-5)
14. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-6)
15. Tampa Bay Bucs (8-6)
