(The Spread) – Can we make it three in a row with our underdog pick of the week for college football?

We started up our “Underdog Pick of the Week” three weeks ago with a loss as Northwestern failed to cover against Michigan. But since then we’ve hit each of our last two underdog picks, including Texas Tech as an outright winner last Saturday against Oklahoma.

This week we focus on a pair of Conference USA foes that will battle it out at the Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas as UTEP hosts Southern Miss at 8:00PM ET. Oddsmakers have installed the Golden Eagles as 10-point road favorites over the Miners, who are 4-3 overall and 2-1 at home. Southern Miss is starting to gain some national attention and is 6-1 overall and 2-1 on the road.

Public Betting: Of the 1,200-plus wagers on tonight’s game, 60% of college football public bettors currently favor Southern Miss -10. This information is subject to change leading up to kickoff, however, so make sure you click on the “Public Betting” link provided to ensure that you’re viewing the most up-to-date public betting numbers.

College Football Free Pick: Take the Miners. If Southern Miss doesn’t play to its full potential then UTEP could win outright. But even if the Golden Eagles are at the top of their game, the Miners have been solid for most of the year. UTEP is looking for its first three-game winning streak since 2005 and is 6-1 against the spread this season. According to latest college football trends, the Miners are 5-0 against the spread in their last five conference games and 4-0 in their last four games as a home underdog.
