Coach Rex Ryan said the team would re-sign veteran defensive tackle Howard Green to make up for the loss of Jenkins.
Jenkins was injured while making a tackle in the second quarter of the Jets' 16-13 overtime loss to Buffalo on Sunday. Jenkins, in his second season with New York, is considered a centerpiece of Ryan's aggressive defense, especially against the run.
Jenkins tackled Fred Jackson on a 4-yard run with just over 5 minutes left before halftime and went down, grimacing while laying on his back. He slowly walked off the field to the sideline before heading to the locker room.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction, the Jets are 6.5-point favorites to beat the Raiders in Oakland in Week 7.
