(The Spread) – NFC South rivals clash at the Georgia Dome on Sunday when the Falcons host the Panthers at 1:00PM ET.

NFL Odds: Oddsmakers have installed the host Falcons as 4-point favorites against the Panthers on Sunday, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 50.5 points. Carolina comes into this game with a  1-4 record but is 4-1 against the spread, while Atlanta is just 2-3 overall and 1-4 against the number.

Line Movement: The Falcons opened as a 6.5-point favorite at the Las Vegas Hilton but nobody was buying. Since then the line has dropped considerably and was even down to 3.5 at one point before climbing back up to 4. The over/under total has stayed consistent between 50.5 and 51 points.

NFL Week 6 Free Pick: Take Carolina. The Falcons have had a ton of success against the Panthers over the last couple of years but this is a different Atlanta team right now. Their offense is in a complete funk and don’t count on conservative, predictable Mike Mularkey to figure things out any time soon. He refuses to allow Matt Ryan to run the no-huddle on a more consistent basis, even though that’s the offense Ryan is most comfortable in. As long as the Panthers can slow a declining Michael Turner, they’ll have a chance to cover – if not win outright. Cam Newton has been “Mr. Cover” against the spread this year, producing a couple of back door covers against the Packers and Bears. According to latest NFL trends, the Falcons are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games versus the NFC and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.
