(The Spread) – Our NFL Underdog Pick of the Week comes from a matchup of 3-1 NFC teams that will square off at 4:05PM ET today.

NFL Odds: Oddsmakers have installed the 49ers as 3-point home favorites against the Bucs in Week 5. Tampa Bay enters the day with a 3-1 overall record and is 2-2 against the spread, while San Francisco is 3-1 overall and 3-0-1 against the number.

Line Movement: The 49ers opened as 1-point favorites at the Las Vegas Hilton but the line has steadily climbed since then. In fact, the line is now up to 3 in Vegas and 2.5 at some offshore books. The over/under total is currently sitting at 42 points after opening at 40.

Public Betting: Of the 8,500-plus wagers on today’s game, 55% of NFL public bettors currently favor the Bucs. This information is subject to change leading up to kickoff, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most up-to-date NFL public betting numbers.

NFL Week 5 Free Pick: Take Tampa Bay. Even though the Bucs are coming off a short week following their 24-17 win over the Colts on Monday Night Football and have largely looked sloppy in the early going, Tampa Bay keeps finding ways to win. The same can be said for the 49ers, but they seemingly have more issues than the Bucs do coming into this game (consistency at quarterback and struggles along the offensive line to name a few). According to latest NFL trends, the underdog is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams, while the Bucs are 6-1 against the number in their last seven games as an underdog.
