Betting Preview:
West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart has said that he wants to go back to more zone option plays after QB Pat White and the Mountaineer offense has struggled getting away from the scheme in the past couple weeks. Colorado’s defense isn’t used to seeing the zone option in the Big 12, so it might have trouble stopping White from breaking a couple of big plays. White threw for five touchdowns the week before the upset loss at East Carolina, and the WVU offense was averaging 41 points per game in 32 contests. So don’t buy that the Mountaineers are falling from grace just because of one loss (albeit one huge loss). For Colorado, they have Florida State, Texas and Kansas on deck, and had to come back form a 21-17 deficit to beat Eastern Washington last week so White and Co. might be catching the Buffs at a great time.
Prediction:
Oddsmakers from online sports SBG Global have made West Virginia a 3-point road favorite. Don’t be scared that the Mountaineers lost to East Carolina and bounced out the ratings, as well as have yet to play in Colorado. They’re the better team and while their defense is a bit of a concern, they should come away with a win and a cover. We predict West Virginia over Colorado 38-30.
