Well that was quick.
Just one week after the Indianapolis Colts were steamrolled by Arian Foster and the Houston Texans, oddsmakers have now dropped them as favorites to win Super Bowl XLV.
Back in February when the 2011 Super Bowl odds were released, the Colts opened as 6/1 favorites, while the New Orleans Saints were 8/1 to win. The Baltimore Ravens weren’t far behind at 15/1, but were largely off oddsmakers’ radar.
Now the Ravens are 8/1 to win, which are the best odds of any of the 32 teams.
Baltimore earned a hard-fought road win in New York on Monday night and has been chosen by many media publications to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. Apparently the public has caught on, because oddsmakers have adjusted their lines.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have the Saints listed right behind Baltimore at 9/1, while the Colts are 10/1. It’ll be interesting to see how these lines change as the weeks go on, especially if Baltimore loses this weekend in Cincinnati, and/or the Colts beat a good Giants team on Sunday night in their home opener.
