Texans’ running back Arian Foster is the favorite to lead the league in rushing at 7/2 odds, while the Titans’ Chris Johnson is 7/1. Ray Rice of the Ravens is 15/2, Darren McFadden of the Raiders is 8/1 and Maurice Jones-Drew of the Jaguars rounds out the top 5 at 9/1 odds.
Both Jamaal Charles of the Chiefs and LeSean McCoy of the Eagles are 12/1, respectively, while Adrian Peterson of the Vikings is 14/1 to gain the most rushing yards in 2012. Marshawn Lynch of the Bills is 15/1 and DeMarco Murray of the Cowboys and Matt Forte of the Bears are 20/1, respectively.
Five running backs have 25/1 odds to rush for the most yards in 2012, which include Frank Gore of the 49ers, Michael Turner of the Falcons, Shonn Greene of the Jets, Steven Jackson of the Rams and Trent Richardson of the Browns. Ryan Mathews of the Chargers is 28/1 to gain the most rushing yards.
Jones-Drew led the league in rushing last year with 1,606 yards but his contract holdout is expected to carry over into the regular season. Rice was second last year in rushing with 1,364 yards and Turner was right behind him with 1,340. McCoy was fourth with 1,309 yards and Foster was fifth with 1,224 yards.
