Which college football programs are expected to light up the scoreboard in 2008? Lets take a look at the top 15 scoring offenses as the college football season is set to kick off.
Offensive statistics can tell bettors a lot. A team that can run the ball is going to be able to eat up the clock more and thus probably keep the scores low. A team that has a more high-powered attack and can throw the ball efficiently tends to light up the scoreboard, but also tire out their defense quicker. (And thus the over is pretty solid bet.)
And then there are the teams that can flat out score. Keep in mind these top 15 teams when placing your bets on Saturdays. While oddsmakers will adjust the over/under total depending on which teams can score more, the over is still a solid play for many of the teams listed below.
- Iowa State
- Colorado
- Arizona
- Oregon
- Washington
- Baylor
- South Carolina
- California
- Washington State
- Missouri
- Oklahoma State
- Kentucky
- Nebraska
- Notre Dame
- Texas A&M
You might be thinking to yourself – Notre Dame has the 14th best scoring offense in the nation? Don’t forget that these rankings also factor in strength of schedule and therefore the Irish are going to be ranked higher than an offensive powerhouse like Florida because ND plays a weaker schedule.
Baylor is an interesting case at No. 6 because not only can the Bears score, but they can also give up a ton of points, too. That’s something to think about when the over/under totals are released for Baylor games.
