(The Spread) – Following a two-year bowl ban, the USC Trojans are expected to challenge for the BCS national championship in 2012 and quarterback Matt Barkley is one of the key reasons for the school’s lofty expectations.
Barkley is the current favorite at 3/1 to win the 2012 Heisman Trophy followed by Wisconsin running back Montee Ball (6/1) and Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson (15/2). Quarterbacks Geno Smith of West Virginia and Landry Jones of Oklahoma are both 8/1 to win the Heisman this year.
Back to Barkley, oddsmakers have released player prop odds surrounding the USC quarterback. For the prop, “How many total passing yards will Matt Barkley throw for in 2012,” the over/under is currently 3,600 yards. And for the prop, “How many total passing touchdowns will Barkley throw for this season,” the over/under is 39.5, with the over sitting at –110 odds and the under at –130 odds.

Who will have more passing yards among Pac-12 quarterbacks Barkley, Keith Price (Washington) and Matt Scott (Arizona)? Barkley is the favorite at –300 on the money line while Price is +140 and Scott is the “long shot” at +325. Barkley is also the favorite at –300 to have more passing yards in 2012 at –300 while Price is +105 on the money line and Scott is +500.
The Trojans are currently the favorites to win the 2013 BCS National Championship at 3/1, while Alabama is 5/1 and LSU is 6/1. Florida State is 13/2 to win a title this season, Oklahoma and Oregon are 10/1, respectively, and Georgia is 16/1.
