INDIANAPOLIS, IN (The Spread) – The national media isn’t the only ones who took notice to Andrew Luck’s NFL preseason debut last Sunday.
Following Luck’s two-touchdown performance in a 38-3 win over the Rams last weekend, the Colts’ 2013 Super Bowl odds dropped from 150/1 to 100/1 and their 2013 AFC Championship odds fell from 60/1 to 50/1. Granted, that still lists the Colts among the bigger long shots but the drop in odds is noteworthy.
Luck completed 10-of-16 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns verus St. Louis in his NFL debut last Sunday. He played four possessions, leading touchdown drives on three of them, and his first pass attempt went for a 63-yard touchdown to Donald Brown. (Albeit Brown did most of the work as Luck essentially flipped the ball to his running back to avoid taking a sack.)
Meanwhile, the New York Jets’ Super Bowl odds have risen from 28/1 to 30/1 while their in-state rivals the Giants have gone from 20/1 to 22/1. The Jets’ offense was pathetic in a 17-6 loss to the Bengals in their preseason debut, while the Giants fell to the Jaguars, 32-31.
