Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith strained his shoulder in a recent practice and is expected to miss at least the next two weeks.
Smith was injured Monday night when he collided with cornerback Chris Gamble in a passing drill. Smith was spotted near the team cafeteria Tuesday wearing a sling, the day after he injured his right shoulder in practice.
Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme expects his Pro Bowl receiver to be healthy by Week 1. Receivers coach Richard Williamson said former USC product Dwayne Jarrett will practice with the first-team unit opposite Muhsin Muhammad while Smith is out.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL currently list the Panthers’ 2010 Super Bowl odds at 22/1 and their odds to win the NFC Championship at 9/1.
