Roddy White’s contract holdout is officially over, as the Atlanta Falcons signed their top receiver to a new six-year, $50 million contract over the weekend. White will also earn $18 million in guarantees.
When Falcons opened training camp a week ago, White was nowhere to be found, skipping practice in hopes of a new contract. While his holdout only lasted a week, but many in the organization and fan base began to worry that the team’s top playmaker would continue his holdout deep into training camp.
White is coming off an excellent season, hauling in 88 passes for 1,382 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He emerged as quarterback Matt Ryan’s go-to guy and is once again expected to be a key component in Atlanta’s passing attack. White should be in for another big season with the addition of future Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction currently have the Falcons listed at 24/1 to win the 2010 Super Bowl and 13/1 to win the NFC Championship.
