SEATTLE, WA (The Spread) – Training camps have only just begun around the country but this much is clear: Rookie third-round pick Russell Wilson is in the mix to start for the Seahawks this year.
Reporting from Seattle’s training camp on Sunday, Sports Illustrated’s Peter King said that Wilson is “absolutely” in the race to start for the Seahawks in Week 1 of the regular season. The third-round selection out of Wisconsin is competing against Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson.
On the heels of King’s report, ESPN 710 in Seattle reported that Wilson took the “bulk” of the first-team reps during Monday’s practice. Still, Flynn remains the favorite to start after signing a three-year, $19.5 million contract in March.
The Seahawks are currently 50/1 to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 30/1 to win the NFC Championship. They’re also 4/1 to win the NFC West behind the 49ers, who are -250 to win the division again this season.
