The Houston Astros got bad news on Tuesday night as it was discovered that Roy Oswalt is likely heading to the disabled list with a back injury.
Oswalt suffered a lower back strain on Tuesday evening and had to leave his start against the Cubs in the second inning. Houston will call up minor league pitcher Bud Norris if Oswalt has to go on the DL, which all indications are that he will.
Oswalt is 6-4 this season with a 3.66 ERA, 104 strikeouts to only 33 walks and a sparklingly 1.17 WHIP. He has Houston in contention for the NL Wild Card, but the ‘Stros could be in trouble now with Oswalt heading to the disabled list. Houston isn’t exactly the best hitting club in the league.
For those thinking that the Astros could surprise this year, oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have made Houston a 30/1 long shot to win the 2009 World Series and 15/1 to win the NL Pennant.
