CHICAGO, IL (The Spread) – The Royals and White Sox battle tonight in Chicago and looking at the recent trends, bettors should take notice of who’s on the mound for Kansas City.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Royals are -119 money line favorites over the White Sox, who are +110 money line home underdogs. The total, meanwhile, is currently sitting at 9 runs for this 8:10PM ET start time.
Bruce Chen will take the hill for Kansas City sporting a 1-2 record and a nasty 6.46 ERA, while the White Sox will counter with Scott Carroll, who is 4-5 with a 4.19 ERA. Chen has yet to record a win in three appearances since rejoining the Royals’ rotation last month, while Carroll is coming off back-to-back victories after giving up three hits in 11 2/3 scoreless innings over his last two outings.
Despite Chen’s poor record and high ERA, the Royals are 4-0 in his last four starts versus the White Sox and 6-1 in his last seven road starts versus the Sox. Kansas City is also 10-2 in its last 12 road games versus Chicago and 4-1 in its last five meetings overall versus the White Sox. The Royals are also 12-3 in Chen’s last 15 starts when they’re favored.
On the other side, the White Sox are just 2-10 in their last 12 games versus AL Central opponents.
