Free agent quarterback Brett Favre is expected to make a decision on whether or not he’ll play in 2009 by this Friday.
Favre originally set a deadline of July 30 as to whether or not he’ll play this season, but apparently he doesn’t need that much time now. All indications are that he will play in 2009 – most likely for the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings have been patiently waiting on Favre’s decision for a couple months now. They traded for Sage Rosenfels in the offseason and still have former second-round pick Tarvaris Jackson on the roster, but the front office feels as though Favre gives the team the best chance to win.
If Favre does wind up in Minnesota, he’ll join a stacked offense that also features dynamic running back Adrian Peterson and wide receivers Bernard Berrian and Percy Harvin. If Favre can stay healthy for the entire season, Minnesota is a definite playoff contender.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have given the Vikings short odds to win the 2010 Super Bowl at 12/1. They’re also 3/1 to win the NFC Championship Game.
