TORONTO, CANADA (The Spread) – The Rangers will visit the Blue Jays this afternoon in what should be another low-scoring game if the trends stay true.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Blue Jays are -175 money line home favorites versus the Rangers, who are +161 money line road dogs. The total for today’s 1:07PM ET start is currently sitting at 9 runs.
Texas will start Colby Lewis, who is 6-6 with a 6.54 ERA. He was crushed for a career-high 13 runs (11 earned) 0ver a season-low 2 1/3 innings in a 15-6 home loss to the Angels on July 10. That said, he’s 5-1 with a 4.38 ERA in seven starts on the road this season, compared to his 1-5 record and 8.40 ERA in nine home starts.
On the other side, the Blue Jays will start Marcus Stroman, who is 4-2 with a 4.05 ERA and who is coming off the worst start of his career, ironically against the Angels. He took a no-decision in the game but gave up six runs (five earned) in 3 2/3 innings against the same L.A. team that routed Lewis.
Despite the poor efforts by these two starters in their last outings, the under looks like the play today. The under is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams and 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Toronto. The under is already off to a good start, as Friday night’s 5-1 Rangers’ victory fell under the total of 7.5 runs.
