MILWAUKEE, WI (The Spread) – When the Cardinals face the Brewers bettors have been cashing in on the over.
The over is 5-0 in the last five meetings between the Cardinals and Brewers, who will meet today at 2:10PM ET. The over is also 10-3 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams in Milwaukee, 4-1 in the Brewers’ last five games overall and 9-2 in their last 11 home games against a team with a winning record.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the total is currently sitting at 8.5 for today’s game. The Brewers are also -120 money line favorites over their division rivals, while the Cardinals are +111.
Carlos Martinez will take the hill to oppose Wily Peralta of the Brewers. While Martinez has only allowed four hits in 9 2/3 scoreless innings versus Milwaukee, that damage was done when the youngster was a reliever. He gave up a pair of two-run home runs on Tuesday versus the Pirates and the ball could fly out of the yard again today in Milwaukee.
For Peralta, he was beaten for the first time since May 31 after getting crushed for nine runs on eight hits in just 4 1/3 innings against the Phillies on Tuesday. He’s struggled against St. Louis, holding a 6.26 ERA against the Cardinals while allowing the Redbirds to bat .302 against him.
