KANSAS CITY, MO (The Spread) – Despite potentially losing left fielder Alex Gordon for the next several months, the Royals remain favored to win the 2015 World Series.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Royals are 6/1 favorites to win the World Series and 3/1 to win the AL Championship in 2015. The Cardinals have the next best odds to win this year’s Fall Classic at 15/2, although they share those odds with the Nationals.
Royals manager Ned Yost said late Wednesday night following Kansas City’s victory over Tampa Bay that Gordon could be out for months after the outfield strained his left groin. Gordon admitted to hearing the muscle in his groin pop while chasing after a fly ball. The club’s training staff said the muscle did not detach from the bone, but groin strains can sideline players for months.
Gordon was hitting .279 with 11 home runs and 39 RBI before suffering the injury.
