(The Spread) – Could NBA free agent LeBron James be narrowing his choice between two teams?
Adrian Wojnarowski said on Fox Sports 1 Tuesday that LeBron has narrowed his choices down to the Heat and Cavaliers in terms of who he’s going to sign with this offseason. The report makes sense seeing as how those are the primary teams that James has been linked to since he opted out of his contract with Miami.
One factor that could hamper LeBron returning to Miami is if Chris Bosh signs a deal with the Rockets, who reportedly want to sign Bosh to a max contract. If Bosh breaks up the “Big 3,” then LeBron could wait and see if fellow free agent Carmelo Anthony would join him in Miami or Cleveland. Depending on the situation, that would require either Anthony or LeBron to take a pay cut, however.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Heat remain favored to win the 2015 NBA Finals at 5/1, although those odds will obviously change if LeBron signs elsewhere. The same thing can be said for the Cavs’ odds, which are currently sitting at 10/1.
Oddsmakers are clearly protecting themselves right now with LeBron’s decision coming soon. They don’t want to make Cleveland a 50/1 long shot and then have bettors anticipate James signing with the Cavs and holding all the value. So we’ll just have to see what LeBron and the oddsmakers do over the next couple of days.
