EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Giants have pulled a long-term offer to Jason Pierre-Paul after the defensive end injured his hand in a fireworks accident.
The accident occurred over the weekend and while there were initial rumors that JPP had lost fingers in the incident, a source tells the New York Post that he suffered “significant burns on his palm and several fingers.” It sounds as though Pierre-Paul didn’t lose any digits in the incident but the Post also reports that one finger “may have sustained nerve damage.
Pierre-Paul remains unsigned after the Giants slapped him with their franchise tag this offseason. That means JPP would have earned $14.8 million this season had he signed his tag, but Rapoport notes that the Giants “do not believe a long-term offer is in the best interest of those involved at this point.”
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Giants are 28/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl and 16/1 to win the NFC Conference Championship in 2015. They’re also 3/1 to win the NFC East Division.
