CLEVELAND, OH (The Spread) – Any hope of a reduced sentence on his impending year-long suspension may have been squashed for Browns receiver Josh Gordon.
WKYC reports that Gordon was arrested for DWI early Saturday morning in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was pulled over for going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone before being charged for driving while impaired around 3:00 a.m. It’s Gordon’s second run-in with the law in the past two months as his vehicle also received a citation for possession of marijuana in May.
Gordon was in the process of appealing his impending year-long suspension for failing a drug test earlier this year. He has a hearing with the NFL scheduled for that incident and this latest arrest is highly likely to squash any chance that he had at winning his appeal. In fact, his career might be in danger following this latest incident.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Browns’ odds to win the 2015 Super Bowl are currently sitting at 50/1. They’re also 25/1 long shots to win their conference this season and 5/1 long shots to win the AFC North.
Without Gordon, who broke out for 87 catches and 1,646 yards with nine touchdowns in 14 games last season. Look for Cleveland to keep the ball on the ground offensively and try to shorten games this year. Their defense is borderline underrated but without a legit passing game the Browns are going to be limited.
