Several national media outlets including the Boston Globe and ESPN.com are reporting that free agent forward/center Rasheed Wallace has committed to sign a contract with the Boston Celtics.
The deal is reportedly expected to be for two years at the mid-level exception, which would pay Wallace approximately $5.8 million. In 66 games last season, the 34-year old Wallace averaged 12 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game and 1.3 blocks per game.
Without Kevin Garnett last season, the Celtics weren’t able to repeat as NBA champions. The addition of Wallace will give Boston depth, although the move raises a question as to what the team will do with Glen “Big Baby” Davis, who is a restricted free agent.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING, the Celtics currently 5/1 to win the 2010 NBA Championship.
