NEW YORK, NY (The Spread) – Ted Wells will reportedly be present for Tom Brady’s appeal hearing, which will take place on Tuesday.
Wells’ investigative findings into the deflation of Patriots footballs led to a four-game suspension for Brady, as well as a large fine and lost draft picks for the organization. According to ESPN.com, Brady’s counsel will contend that Roger Goodell violated the collective bargaining agreement by delegating authority to executive vice president Troy Vincent to hand down the quarterback’s punishment.
In related news, a source tells NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that if Brady says the same thing he did to Wells initially, his four-game suspension will stand. One of the points of emphasis for Wells during his investigation was Brady’s refusal to give up his cell phone. Goodell and the NFL could have thus viewed that as Brady’s attempt to impede the investigation.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Patriots are 9/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl. These odds are subject to change depending on the result of Brady’s appeal.
