With their Game 3 win over the Lakers on Tuesday night, the Orlando Magic cut into Los Angeles’ lead and now look to even up their best of seven series at two games apiece when the two teams square off tonight in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
So far, this has been a tough series to handicap. The Magic lost both games in Los Angeles, but just managed to cover the spread in Game 2 before failing to cover the 4.5-point spread in Game 3. It appears that staying away from the point spread in this series has been wise.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have made Orlando a 2.5-point favorite entering tonight’s action. The over/under total on Game 4 has been set at 201.
When looking at the trends, it appears that the Lakers have a massive edge seeing as how they’re 20-8 straight up against the Magic since 1996 and are underdogs. L.A. is also 3-1 against the spread versus the Magic over the last three seasons when the game is played in Orlando.
But the more telling trend is that four of four games in this series have gone over the total over the last three seasons when the game is played in Orlando. We won by predicting the over in Game 4 and there seems to be no reason to go against that perfect trend tonight.
Our free pick for this 2009 NBA Finals matchup is the OVER 201.
