After opening up and absolutely stomping the Orlando Magic in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers look to jump out to a 2-0 series lead when they host their Eastern Conference foes again tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM have made the Lakers a 6.5-point favorite for Game 2. The over/under total has been set at 202 for this NBA Finals matchup.
There isn’t much to go on in terms of trends for this series. The Lakers are 7-5 against the spread versus the Magic since 1996, but Orlando is 3-1 against the number versus Los Angeles over the last three seasons. Perhaps the best trend is that 3 of 4 games in this series have gone under the total over the last three seasons, so the UNDER 202 might be something to consider tonight.
We thought that Orlando +6 was a safe choice in Game 1 given that both teams were well rested and that the Magic have played so well on the road so far in the postseason. But the Lakers obviously came out firing and easily covered the spread with a 100-75 victory.
We happen to think L.A. will once again cruise in Game 2 as the Finals inexperience will continue to play a big role in Orlando’s demise. The Lakers looked too overpowering in Game 1 and while we don’t think another 25-point blow out is on the way, we love Los Angeles in this Game 2 matchup and will give up the 6.5 points.
Our free pick for this NBA Finals Game 2 matchup is the Lakers –6.5.
