Dave in Dixie Race Info:

Owner(s): Ike and Dawn Thrash

Trainer: John W. Sadler

Jockey: Calvin Borel

Post Position: No. 1

Updated Odds:

Dave in Dixie opened with 22/1 odds, but oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com currently list him at 15/1.

Recent Race History:

The 3-year-old colt isn’t coming off a sharp prep, as he finished fifth at the G3 Illinois Derby on April 3. He also finished sixth in the G2 San Feliple on March 13, although he did place second at the G2 Robert B. Lewis on February 13.

Betting Analysis:

Dave in Dixie has plenty of quality starts against graded competition, but he hasn’t faired well. His lone start on dirt also produced his worst performance of his career and he hasn’t shown what many believe is immense talent. We just don’t see it, although keep in mind that Calvin Borel has his mount and they’ll be starting at the rail this evening. Borel has made a tremendous living riding the rail, which has produced 23 wins at the Belmont Stakes – the most ever at this race.
