CHARLOTTE, NC (The Spread) – The Panthers are reportedly closing in on a contract question with quarterback Cam Newton.
The deal is expected to run through 2020 and could be worth around $100 million. Newton is 30-31-1 in four years as the Panthers’ franchise signal-caller and has lead the team to back-to-back NFC South Division titles. He’s 1-2 in the postseason, with his lone victory coming against the Cardinals in the wild card round a year ago.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Panthers are 40/1 long shots to win the 2016 Super Bowl and are 22/1 to win the NFC Conference championship. Carolina also has 2/1 odds to repeat as NFC South champions.
