(The Spread) - The Dallas Mavericks got a taste of what to expect in the NBA Finals when they dropped their first game of the championship series to the Miami Heat on Tuesday.

Now the NBA playoff betting lines are shifting further into Miami’s favor.

The Mavs, led by star forward Dirk Nowitzki’s 27 points, fought for control of the game off and on until the third quarter when a LeBron James-inspired rally put his team on top for good.

Though the Heat were favored heading into the match, the final result was an ugly affair that saw each team shoot less than 40% from the field. Miami’s ability to capitalize on offensive rebounding opportunities and the subsequent second-chance points are what sealed the deal in their favor.

Think the veteran Mavericks can turn things around in time to steal home court advantage from the Heat in Game 2? Bet on the NBA Finals now.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, the Heat head into Game 2 as 4.5-point favorites. They’re also widely considered favorites to take the series, especially now with their one-game cushion.

If Dallas can come out of Game 2 with a win, however, and thus split the pair of games in Miami, they may see their fortunes turn around. It all starts on Thursday.
