(The Spread) – The 2011 NHL Stanley Cup Finals are on the horizon and a pair of teams who haven’t found themselves in the running for a championship in over 15 years are duking it out for top honors.
The series is just the latest pairing in a postseason of unpredictable upsets, comebacks and rallies.
Think the Vancouver Canucks will be able to avenge their 1994 Stanley Cup Final loss at the hands of the New York Rangers? The Boston Bruins, too, have been harboring resentment over the years, held Cupless since 1972.
The last time the Bruins even made a trip to the Finals was in 1990.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, the Canucks sit in the driver’s seat with home ice advantage and -200 odds to win Game 1. All things considered, Vancouver also sits atop the pile with -235 odds of winning the Stanley Cup outright.
But that’s not to say that the Bruins are without a legitimate shot of contending. After winning the Northeast Division with 103 points this season, the Bruins took down both of last season’s Eastern Conference Finalists and a surging Tampa Bay Lightning squad.
With Game 1 fast approaching, it’s time to lace ‘em up.
