Nobody would be more surprised to win Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 than first-year IRL driver, Takuma Sato.

Bet 2010 Indianapolis 500 Odds

Having never competed in the race and not found much success in his first season with the IRL, Sato is a clear longshot to win this year’s race.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL currently list Sato at 100/1 to win the 2010 Indy 500. Helio Castroneves, who won the pole on Saturday, is the current favorite at 5/2 and Scott Dixon is 7/2 to win.

In five IRL races this year, Sato has finished just two of them, finishing no better than 18th. An experienced Formula 1 driver, Sato went winless in seven years with the racing league. His top season finish was eighth back in 2004. His luck hasn’t gotten much better with qualifying for this race, as he starts 31st in the dreaded 11th row. The 11th row has never produced an Indy 500 winner.

The 2010 Indianapolis 500 will start at 1:00PM ET on Sunday. For more information on the race, check out our 2010 Indy 500 Viewing Guide and for odds, see below.
