A veteran of the Indianapolis 500, Ed Carpenter is hoping experience pays off this Sunday.

Bet 2010 Indianapolis 500 Odds

Having raced in the last six Indy 500 events, Carpenter has finished in the top 10 the last two years and now has his sights set on a victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL currently list Carpenter at 50/1 to win the 2010 Indy 500. Helio Castroneves, who won the pole on Saturday, is the current favorite at 5/2 and Scott Dixon is 7/2 to win.

Carpenter finished eighth in this race in 2009 and a career-best fifth in 2008. Carpenter failed to crack the top 10 in his first four Indy 500s, but he has steadily improved throughout his career. Carpenter has competed full-time in the IRL from 2003-09, but this will be his first race of 2010. Carpenter is winless in 98 career races, but he has 26 top-10 finishes. Carpenter will start from the eighth position on Sunday.

The 2010 Indianapolis 500 will start at 1:00PM ET on Sunday. For more information on the race, check out our 2010 Indy 500 Viewing Guide and for odds, see below.
